Founded in 2006 by the UCT Mountain and Ski Club, the Siyenyuka project takes schoolchildren from various high schools and backgrounds hiking. By exposing learners to the great outdoors, we hope to create an appreciation and concern for the environment.
We are partnered with Project 90x2030, which facilitate Leadership clubs within High Schools around Cape Town. Currently nine schools are involved. Once a month we take 2 clubs along for a hike and once a year an overnight hike is organized.
Our activities normally include hiking, climbing and other possible ways to educate about the environment.
